Parasites are one of the most damaging, overlooked, and widespread health issues that many of us face today. Most people are grossed out by the thought that they could have a parasite (or many parasites) in their body. However, parasites are some of the most abundant creatures on earth, and a pest to nearly all animals, as a parasite is characterized by its need to live off the nutrients of its host.
Humans are hosts to nearly 300 species of parasitic worms and over 70 species of protozoa, some derived from our primate ancestors and some acquired from the animals we have domesticated or come in contact with during our relatively short history on Earth.
In humans, parasites that live inside us use up our vitamins, proteins and other nutrients, depriving us of optimal nutrition. Not only do they steal nutrients from our body, they also eliminate waste inside us, releasing their toxic bacteria and viruses. Parasites are most commonly found in the colon, however, any part of the body is vulnerable to infestation: the lungs, liver, brain, blood, muscles, joints, skin, etc.
Symptoms of Parasites
According to the University of Maryland, “Parasites can live within the intestines for years without causing any symptoms,” making it hard to know whether we have them or not. A lot of the symptoms of intestinal parasites are also similar to many other disorders such as candida overgrowth, infection, etc., however, with the abundance of parasites and the ease of which they can enter our bodies, some, if not most, common health issues may be the result of parasitic infection.
If you have any of these symptoms, it is possible that parasites could be the cause:
- gas and bloating
- irritable bowel syndrome
- painful menstruation
- joint and muscle aches
- cravings, especially sugar
- skin conditions – mostly irritation/itching at nose, ears, eyes, anus – but also potentially rashes,
- hives, eczema
- sleep disorders
- hyperactivity, anxiety
- teeth grinding
- chronic fatigue
- fuzzy thinking
- runny nose
- blisters on lower lip inside mouth
- loss of appetite
- bad taste in the mouth
- vomiting (may return several times a year)
- weight gain OR may have trouble gaining weight
- food allergies
- dark areas under eyes
As you can see, many common ailments can be linked to parasites. So, what do we do to alleviate these symptoms and rid our bodies of these harmful creatures? Detox. A parasite detox cleanse involves eliminating parasites from your body by killing them with powerful anthelmintic herbs, eating anti-parasitic foods, and flushing out the parasites and built-up waste that they thrive on through drinking a lot of fluids and cleansing the colon. In this guide, we will lead you step by step on how to do an effective parasite cleanse.
How to Do a Parasite Cleanse
As complex as the subject of parasites is, cleansing them from your body is simple (but not necessarily easy). The primary treatment involves three medicinal herbs: Green Black Walnut Hull, Wormwood, and Fresh Cloves. These herbs have strong anthelmintic properties, meaning they are wonderful at expelling parasitic worms from the body. Together, these three herbs make up what is traditionally known as “wormwood complex,” and are the ingredients that make up our parasite detox formula.
Our master herbalists perfected our parasite detox tonic over a 10 year process of trial and error. The goal of creating this formula was to maximize the potency of the liquid, allowing for optimal effectiveness in as small of dosages as possible. The reason this is significant is because traditional parasite detox cleanses require users to consume over 20 capsules per day, which can cause much discomfort to the body. We created this liquid to have the same potency in only one dropper full of tincture. This formula is best diluted in water due to the extreme concentration.
The combination of the three herbs in our formula help to support the body’s effective detoxification of both the egg and the adult stages of 100 different internal parasites, including amoebas, giardia, many worms, and liver flukes.
To get rid of parasites, one can undergo a parasite cleanse by diligently consuming this formula, following the recommended dosage closely, drinking a lot of purified water, and consuming anti-parasitic foods.

Explanation of the Herbs Used
Black Walnut Hulls (from the black walnut tree – juglans nigra) – Used by Native Americans as an anti-parasite, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal remedy. Its active ingredients are juglone, tannin and iodine. The tincture of the green hulls of the black walnut kills the adult stages of the parasites.
Wormwood (from the Artemisia shrub – artemisia absinthum) – Known for its vermicidal properties, wormwood helps those with a weak and under-active digestion. It increases the acidity of the stomach and the production of bile. Wormwood kills the larval stages of the parasites.
Common Cloves (from the clove tree – eugenia caryophyllata) – Anti-parasitical, anti-fungal, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. It also removes pain. Cloves kill the parasite eggs.
Explanation of the Colon Cleanse Drink
One of the important elements of this cleanse is to cleanse the colon. Doing a colon cleanse alongside a parasite cleanse helps to ensure that you eliminate the parasites as well as any of the toxins that they may release when they are killed by the Parasite Detox Tonic. The colon cleanse drink is simply just a combination of ground chia seeds, and 1-2 servings of our Fulvic Acid & Trace Ocean Minerals, and water, used to help draw out toxins from the body and facilitate elimination of built up waste.
Fulvic acid is an amazing chelator of heavy metals and binds to toxins. Chia seeds are high in fiber and also contain Omega 3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation in the colon and remove the built-up toxins. Together, fulvic acid and chia seeds draw toxins out of the body to be eliminated.

To do the protocol most effectively takes 30 days.
It is highly recommended to stick to our protocol to make sure elimination is completely effective of both adult parasites and eggs to prevent re-infestation.
Take 1/2 serving of Zuma Nutrition Parasite Detox Tonic in the evening on an empty stomach.
Take 1 serving of Zuma Nutrition Parasite Detox Tonic in the AM & PM on an empty stomach.
Take the colon cleanse drink described above at some point of the day on an empty stomach. This drink consists of chia seeds and Zuma Nutrition Fulvic Acid & Trace Ocean Minerals.
Drink A LOT of Water: Aim to drink around one gallon each day if possible, this will really help the body flush out built up waste.
Eat Anti-Parasitic Foods: Include some anti-parasitic foods into each meal to slowly begin the process of killing the parasites.
DO NOT OVEREAT: The goal is to eliminate built up waste from the colon, so do your best not build up more waste by eating light and following proper food-combining and digestion protocols.
After the cleanse, be mindful of the foods that you are eating, as well as how it is that you are eating. Parasites thrive in a toxic gut that is full of undigested food and waste. If we cleanse our bodies of built up toxins, and focus on properly digesting whole foods and herbs, we can eliminate the internal habitat that allows parasites to flourish.
We recommend doing this cleanse every 6 months with a small preventative dose of ½ serving daily in between cleanses to prevent reinfestation. It is advised to take occasional breaks from the formula for 2-3 weeks to give the system a break.
Cleansing with this formula, and following this protocol twice a year, eating a balanced whole foods diet, and following proper eating protocols that support digestion, while also doing your best to avoid some of the major sources of parasitic infection is the best way to maintain a healthy body free of harmful parasites. Really prevention, sanitation, nutrition, and detoxification is the name of the game.
To rid ourselves of parasites involves cleansing them a few times a year, and following certain protocols that help us to prevent contact with them in the first place. While they may be an uncomfortable reality to accept, they are nothing to fear, but simply something to understand. Once we are educated on what parasites are and how to eliminate them from our bodies, we can truly take control of our own health.
