Why Do We Feel Unworthy?
Feelings of low self-worth often stem from societal conditioning or past experiences that have shaped our subconscious beliefs. The key to overcoming these blocks is to reprogram your subconscious mind, as Joseph Murphy explains in his book The Power of Your Subconscious Mind (available on Amazon (#) – affiliate link). Murphy describes two levels of the mind:
  • Conscious Mind: The rational part that makes choices, like deciding what to read or where to live.
  • Subconscious Mind: The irrational part that accepts beliefs and drives automatic processes like breathing or digestion.
Murphy writes, “Once the subconscious mind accepts an idea, it begins to execute it.” This means your subconscious acts on whatever beliefs you feed it, whether they’re empowering or limiting. For instance, if you believe you’re not worthy of success, your subconscious may steer you away from opportunities.
To shift this, you can consciously choose thoughts that align with your goals. Notice negative self-talk like “I’ll never succeed” and replace it with affirmations like “I am capable of success, and I’m growing every day.” These affirmations, when repeated consistently, can help rewire your subconscious over time.
The Law of Attraction: Aligning Your Energy
Manifestation also ties into the Law of Attraction, the idea that your thoughts and emotions attract experiences of similar energy. Everything in the universe is energy, vibrating at different frequencies, as Nikola Tesla famously said: “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.”
The Kybalion (available on Amazon (#) – affiliate link), an ancient Hermetic text, echoes this with its Principle of Vibration: “Everything is in motion; everything vibrates.” Your personal energy—shaped by your thoughts and feelings—vibrates at a unique frequency, attracting people, opportunities, and circumstances that match it.
To manifest a goal, like a dream career, you need to align your energy with the frequency of already having it. Instead of thinking, “I want to be a successful writer,” try feeling and acting as if you’re already living that reality. This might mean writing daily, networking with authors, or visualizing your success vividly. However, this isn’t about pretending—it’s about embodying the confidence and habits of your desired future.
Note: The Law of Attraction is a philosophy, not a guaranteed formula. Results depend on many factors, including your actions and external circumstances.
Action: The Bridge to Reality
While thoughts and energy are crucial, manifestation requires action. As I wrote this post, I had a vision, believed I could create it, and took action by researching and typing. The result? This article now exists. Larger goals, like owning a 20-acre farm in Maui, follow the same process but require more steps.
Napoleon Hill advises writing down your goals and the actions you’ll take to achieve them. For the Maui farm, your plan might include saving a portion of your income, researching properties, or learning about farming. Action turns your vision into reality, but it must align with your belief that the goal is attainable.
Trust: The Final Ingredient
Trust is the glue that holds manifestation together. Once you’ve clarified your vision, aligned your energy, and taken action, trust that the process is unfolding. This doesn’t mean sitting back—it means staying confident in your path while consistently working toward your goal.
As Lao Tzu said, “Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.” By consciously shaping your thoughts, beliefs, and actions, you take control of your destiny.
